In 1962 Ted Wright came to Fort Wayne where he skated with the Komets right to the Turner Cup in 1963. He liked it, and decided to stay. He stayed for 6 more seasons, earned another Turner Cup championship in 1965, and retired from the game as a left winger and defenseman in 1970, playing a total of 389 games and scoring 220 points over his career. Ted also coached the Komets for parts of 2 seasons in 1975 and 1976.
After his hockey career he became part owner of the Sports Den sporting goods store in Fort Wayne and worked at International Harvester. Ted continues to reside in Fort Wayne with his wife Betty. They have 3 grown children and several grandchildren.
Ted says that the best move he ever made was to play hockey and raise his family in Fort Wayne.
Ted Wright was inducted into the Komets Hall of Fame in 2002.
