Ramon Perry began with the Fort Wayne Komet Hockey Club when it was organized in 1952 as the team’s legal adviser and co-owner with Harold Van Orman and Ernie Berg. One of Mr. Perry’s minor duties in the early years was to serve as the team’s very first public address announcer at the Komet home games.
Mr. Perry was later instrumental with Mr. Van Orman in hiring Ken Ullyot as general manager and coach in 1958. It marked the beginning of a new era and one of the Komet’s most successful.
Mr. Perry continued as one of the principle owners of the Komets throughout the 60’s enjoying much success including 2 Turner Cup Championships. In the late 60’s, Ray Perry was the largest single shareholder of the club and continued to be instrumental in the team’s ownership and legal counsel.
