Eddie Long was nicknamed Mr. Komet and appropriately so.  Eddie spent 14 years playing as a Komet, 858 games to be exact.  He ranks second on the all-time point list with 924, second on career assists with 465, 7th on career penalty minutes with 845, and 14th on coaching wins.  Eddie held the Komets captains position from 1960-1964.  One of Eddie's proudest moments came in march of 1959.  Eddie was struck in the face by the puck from a slap shot during the first period of a game against Toledo and was carried off the ice to the hospital.  After receiving 18 stitches, Eddie came back in the third period to score a goal and help the Komets to their first ever winning season record.  Eddie Long was the first Komet to have his jersey number retired back in 1965-66.  Eddie Long was inducted to the Komet Hall of Fame in 1987.
