Robbie Irons played with the Komets for 12 seasons.  Robbie is first on the Komets all-time shutout list with 14 and second on the all-time goals against averages with a 2.89 average during the 1972-73 season. Irons was originally the property of the New York Rangers. In the 1968-69 season, he was an emergency back up on the bench for the St. Louis Blues when he replaced Glenn Hall for three minutes and did not allow a goal. His three minute stay in the NHL set a league record for the fewest career minutes played by a big league goalie. Irons wore a signature Komet fireball mask and guarded the Komets' net for parts of three decades before retiring in 1981. Robbie Irons was inducted into the Komets Hall of Fame in 1987.
